The Brihan Maharashtra Mandal (BMM), a top body of 42 Marathi community organizations in the US has planned an educational conference for promoting joint academic programs for higher education institutions between USA and India. The conference is scheduled for July, 2013 in Boston, USA. The conference was planned in June, in a session that was attended by heads and representatives from 30 reputed higher education institutions from Pune and Mumbai.

The bodies of representatives have set the conference to discuss education issues as the last decade had seen a substantial increase in opportunities of collaboration between US and Indian higher education institutions.  The conference will provide a proper forum for discussion on higher education by utilizing the knowledge, services and influence of non-residential Indians based in the US to serve as a link between the educational institutions of India and US.

BMM has planned to conduct a delegation of 50 to 60 representatives from Indian higher education institutions for the Boston conference next year. Some of the key aspects that are going to be discussed are promoting India as a higher education destination for US students, improving Faculty-student exchange programs, exchange of ideas for joint academic projects and collaborations in research and entrepreneurship for generating revenue from research at a university level.
