Cambridge tops the Guardian University Guide league table

Cambridge University has notched the top ranking in Guardian University Guide league table, beating the Oxford University which came in second. St. Andrews moved one spot down, to the fourth rank to make way for London school of Economics, which moved up to third rank.

Warwick too o climbed upto fifth place while Durham, University College London (UCL), Lancaster, Exeter and Bath fill in the remaining top 10 positions.

The guide also lists rankings of main subjects offered by these universities. Cambridge led the rankings, topping 16 out of 47 subjects, which included veterinary science, Math, medicine, computer science, biosciences and chemical engineering. Oxford topped in 7 subjects including law, physics, chemistry and business studies.

The rankings are based on criteria such as career prospects, how much the university spends on each student, ratios of staff to students, value added score and the experience final year students have had. The aim of the guide is to help students find universities and courses to apply for.
