British students will not be allowed to skip learning English and Math now. Studying these subjects is necessary for students until they are through with their education in school. This move has been initiated due to criticisms that were registered stating that many school drop outs do not have essential skills needed in the market. These students will be given work experience to increase the employability factor.

Following this change, those students who fail to secure grade C or more in GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) will be forced to study Math and English until the age of 19.

Qualification in GSCE is highly valued by employers, colleges and schools. It is useful for further study, apprenticeship, and work.  A source from the government stated that the move is a good change and will improve lives of many people in the country. However, The Education Select Committee stated that the move could be troublesome.
