UAE : Study and living

United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the new destinations for studying and it has also the fastest growing economy. Due to its education polices studying in UAE is comparatively low in costs compared to the expenses incurred in a USA or UK university. There are various opportunities for students for on job training as well as full time.

Eligibility:

For Undergraduate Study: Applicants must have a minimum of 12 years of schooling. Some of the Universities require minimum 50% to 60% if coming from CBSE or ISC board

For Postgraduate Study: Applicant must have a bachelor's degree

MBA program in UAE: One should have relevant work experience of 2-4 years depending upon the program and the university they have applied.

Cost of study:

The cost of education is low compared to the costs to get the same level of education from the international universities in Western world. The course fees can vary considerably between institutions, but the figures below show approximately what you'll need to pay.

Undergraduate courses: The fee for a UG course might come up to 150,000 to 200,000 AED for three years

For post graduate courses: Course fees can go from 50,000 AED (United Arab Emirates Dirham) up to 100,000 AED for an MBA course.

Living costs:

Most students can look to get accommodation option from the universities themselves as most of them have residence and student dorms options. Most of the international universities have impressive infrastructure for student accommodation and the accommodations charges are varied and depends on the facilities and creature comforts offered.

The costs differ between accommodation for under graduate courses and post graduate courses. And also between twin sharing rooms or a single room. Most student accommodations also require a security fund deposit.  Most accommodation expenses come between 1500-2,500 AED per month.

Applying to UAE

Do some research on whatever universities fit your bill and shortlist them depending on interest and financial situation, etc. After you get your acceptance letter from your preferred university, get your documents in order and apply for a VISA. You need to make sure that the university you are planning to apply has licensure and accreditation from Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) which currently lists about 79 institutions with 774 accredited programs.

Months of Admission:

Most international universities follow their native curriculum and most programs are either offered through ``Fall and Spring’’ method or in autumn (October) and winter (December/ January). But course intakes are mostly in August-September period and few universities also take students in January.

Application Requirement:

Documents required:

· Copies of undergraduate studies including degrees and/or a statement of completion and transcripts showing grades/marks.

· 2 passport size photographs

· Passport copy with valid UAE visa page.

· 2 academic/ employment references

· Evidence of satisfying the English Language requirements, where applicable.

· IELTS/TOEFL

· Official letter of recommendation from a referee (high school teachers) endorsing the student’s ability to successfully complete university work.
