UK: Top destination for higher studies for European students as well

A report by Study Portals, an EU-funded website, has found that  increasing number of students from other European countries are heading to Britain for their higher studies. As per figures from the report, the demand for abroad courses has increased by 150 percent among students from Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece. This is likely to add more competition for British students in obtaining a degree as Britain Universities attract high number of international students from across the world.

With countries like Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece facing high rates of unemployment, students want to study and work in countries with better economies. As European Union countries qualify for the same Government-backed loans that are provided to the British students, they prefer to study in Britain rather than going abroad to any other country.  The website recorded an increase of enquiries made by Greek, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese students in the year 2012 as compared to last year.
