For decades UK has been a popular destination that attracts foreign nationals for its reputed universities and study programs. Private Universities have been master players in the field and have attracted increasing number of students every passing year. But with the changing economic times and stringent visa rules, various other alternatives have emerged over the times and taking up one of the options can be a feasible idea for aspiring students. Listed below are a few alternative modes you could opt for:

Colleges Offering Further Education

Institutions offering courses that can earn one a degree that is different from a university degree are popularly called Further Education Colleges (FE). These institutions offer courses in various disciplines and are hatched keeping in mind the needs of working professionals. One can study from home under the FE option. The fees of FE colleges are considerably lesser than those of the universities, while the value of a degree from an FE college is the same as that of a university as the degrees are authorized by a standard university. A student can also add a university course after a two year course in an FE college, which could be equal to an honors degree in a university.

Part Time Courses

Part time courses are gaining popularity in UK recently. A part time course allows one to undertake a full time employment while studying for a degree of authentic value at the same time. The University of London, Birbeck offers part time courses that enable a student to work during the day and attend evening classes of the desired course. Ratios of students appearing for a part time course have risen to 917 from 347 in 2011. Fees are reasonably priced and from the coming September, students aspiring for part time courses can also apply for educational loans that has a limit of £6750 and £4500 for state and private universities respectively.

Applying to a Foreign University

Another mode or way of studying a higher degree is, applying to universities overseas. Universities in Britain are relatively a lot more expensive than the European university colleges or institutions. However, only a limited amount of Scholarships are available and a UK loan will not be applicable if one is applying at other EU institutes. Living and other expenses also have to be furnished by the student alone.

Therefore, if you are looking forward to doing a higher degree abroad, you might consider the above mentioned modes. These modes are more economical in nature and also give you full value of the degree you aspire to pursue.
