Canadian Scholarships for Indian students

The Universities and Colleges in Canada receive over 150,000 lakh applications from international students for various courses on an annual basis. Some of the Canadian Universities offer various kinds of scholarship for international students to fund their educational expenses. However, the number of Scholarships available is very limited.

The Scholarships are awarded on merit grounds. So, a student is required to have excellent academic record to obtain scholarship from Canadian Colleges.  Only meritorious students with good academic record are granted Scholarships. The amount and type of Scholarships varies from one educational institution to other educational institution.

Following is the list of Scholarships offered in Canada:

  •  Quebec Provincial Government Scholarships:  Quebec Provincial Government Scholarships are granted for postgraduate students and Quebec Teaching/Research Assistantship. The amount of Scholarships depends on the level of study.
  • Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute: Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute awards Scholarships for various courses such as graduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs. The scholarship are also given for lectureship and training fellowship.
  •  Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program: Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program are granted to graduate students of Ontario university studying in various disciplines.
  •  National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC): NSERC provides research grants and project research through partnership of universities and industry.
  • National Research Council of Canada: The council offers scholarship for engineering and Ph.D students in natural science and engineering disciplines.

9.Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships funded by Government of Canada

10.Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships funded by Government of Canada

The students are required to check the availability of Scholarships well in advance before applying to any college in Canada so that they do not miss out on any opportunity to avail scholarship from the Canadian college/university.
