Why pursue MBA in New Zealand?

The course and its eligibility:

Various institutes provide a master’s degree in business administration, both full time and part time, the latter of which is called an Executive MBA. Most colleges have a practical and out-of-classroom perspective on conducting the course. Workshops, case studies, analytical techniques and exchange programmes are a major part of the curriculum. Subjects like Accountancy, Organisational Behaviour, Marketing Management, Business Economics and Statistics form the core subjects of most universities.

Eligibility criteria:

To apply for an MBA programme in New Zealand, you require a minimum work experience of 2 to 4 years. You are expected to have a bachelor’s degree (BCom, BSc, BA) or a degree equivalent to it.

You must appear for any one or more of the below mentioned aptitude tests with a score prescribed for each.

  • GMAT            –          an overall score of 600 points
  • IELTS            –          an overall score of 7.0
  • TOEFL          –          a minimum of 23 in listening and reading +22 in writing.

Fee Structure for MBA:

In a reputed university or institution the average tuition fees that an aspiring student might incur would be around $32,000–39,000. On the other hand if you opt for a lesser ranked institution, the tuition fee could cost you somewhere between $17,000 and $22,000, making it quite an affordable option.

Top universities offering MBA:

University of Otago School of Business

The MBA programme offered by the university is a full-time programme of 16 months that also has a choice of an exchange programme and specialisation. The programme shall contain thirteen papers of core value. The programme fees are prescribed to be NZ$43,500 inclusive of study materials and other sundry expenses.

University of Auckland Business School

The University of Auckland Business School offers two kinds of MBA programs. For an MBA programme of 2 years’ duration (Auckland pathway), the fees is estimated to be NZ$39,070 while the MBA programme that is 1-year long (Executive pathway) costs up to NZ$24,226.

Auckland University of Technology

The university offers both part-time and full-time courses. The full-time course costs about NZ$22,626 for a duration of 1 to 1.5 years and the part-time courses cost around NZ$40,865 for a duration of 2 to 4 years.

Victoria University of Wellington

The university offers a one-year full-time course that can cost up to NZ$33,612 and the cost of a part-time course of two to five years’ duration varies from year to year depending on the university. The part-time course is offered and held exclusively in Hong Kong.

University of Canterbury

The university offers a full-time course of 15 months that costs around NZ$47,556 while the part-time course fees are subject to change with regards to each paper. However, other discretionary and social costs are not included in the above mentioned fee.

Massey University

Massey University offers an Executive MBA programme that is conducted in a part-time format. The tuition fees for the course is around NZ$22,900. The course duration is around 26 months.
