In layman’s terms, tourism is about travelling and visiting unknown destinations for business, educational, research, leisure, or recreational purposes for short periods of time.  Today one can witness a phenomenal bloom in the number of hotels, resorts, and flexible accommodation facilities that have popped up in several countries across the globe which has helped the travel and tourism to flourish.

How important is Travel?Travel and Tourism has become an integral part of our lives. Taking a look at the present day context, the travel and tourism industry has given an impetus to several other growing industries like the hotel management industry, food and catering, and the airline industry. Discovering exotic locales and gaining an insight into unique cultures can prove to an enriching as well as a learning experience at the same time. However, as a traveller, you need to be responsible about several things (including your safety) and adhere to the laws of the places you intend to visit.  The future is here: Unlike years ago, the travel and tourism industry at present has the capacity to provide ample employment opportunities to millions of graduates and postgraduates, promising a decent pay and additional perks to its employees. Apart from working as a travel guide, travel consultant (Agencies from across the country are always on the lookout of skilled and well trained travel consultants), Travel operator or a travel writer/blogger (there is a dearth of well-read travel writers in the electronic and print media), students who have completed travel and tourism courses can also seek job opportunities in universities, airports, and travel channels too. On the contrary to the popular belief, travel and tourism students find it easier to get placed in reputed travel agencies across the world.
