AISECT with IGNOU to roll out Learning Centres for 100 new courses

AISECT, India’s leading Education and Training network, has recently signed an MoU with the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The aim is to launch the AISECT IGNOU Learning Centres across the country to impart IT based Education and Vocational Training Programs. AISECT which has a network strength of about 6,500 centres present across 27 states and 3 union territories plans to roll out more than 500 IGNOU Learning Centres in the first phase. There are over 100 courses that a student can choose from. The AISECT IGNOU Learning Centres will be launched with 7 IT and Management Courses, 5 Hardware and Networking Courses and 17 Vocational Courses which will all be certified by IGNOU.
Mr. Santosh Choubey, Chairman and Managing Director, AISECT on signing the MoU said, “The objective of AISECT in partnering with IGNOU to launch these Learning Centres is to tap the huge potential of students who reside in rural India at the block and Panchayat levels. The fact is that even today, millions of students in rural India are denied access to high quality, employment oriented and skill development based education. AISECT believes that the efficient use of ICT and the Distance Education model can help bridge this gap effectively.”

The various courses will be administered at the AISECT IGNOU Learning Centres at the District, Block and Panchayat Level. Among these will be the Government of India sponsored Common Service Centres (CSCs) which have also been identified by the Ministry of Information Technology as centres which can offer IGNOU programs. With this in mind, AISECT is specially designing a host of courses and has begun registration of students in all parts of the country. Students can also register themselves online at www.aisect.org
“There also lies a huge need today to build the vocational skills of people to make them immediately employable. Through this initiative AISECT hopes to help people gain a sustainable livelihood for themselves in their community,” said Mr. Choubey.
