Delhi University aspirants are running pillar to post to secure an admission in the desired college. While most DU Colleges recorded large number of students securing admissions through the first merit list, the less fortunate candidates were hoping for their chance in the second list. However, to the disappointment of these candidates, many DU colleges will not be declaring the second cut-off list.

Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) had filled up all the seats for BCom (H) and has only 9 seats for BA Economics (H) on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. With the admissions under the general category closing on June 28, 2012, a second merit list for the candidates is unlikely at the college. The cut-off for candidates under the OBC category is likely to be reduced for the next list informed the sources from the college.

At SGTB Khalsa, Moti Lal Nehru, Dayal Singh and Gargi colleges, the admissions to BCom (H) will be closed with the second list on Friday, June 29, 2012. On the other hand, the Hindu, Sri Venkateshwara and Kirori Mal colleges which had a very few or no admissions due to the high cut-offs will be open for admission seekers.

As of June 27, 2012, the Hindu College had 29 seats left for the BCom (H), while Sri Venkateshwara had admitted only 13 candidates. Kirori Mal College is yet to admit any student for the BCom (H) course.

As for admissions in the other courses, SGTB will most likely be open for admissions under the honours course in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. But the college will adopt cautious methods to avoid admissions beyond capacity this year to ensure only marginal withdrawal.

Gargi College will be most likely closing admissions for BCom (H), applied science and science courses, while the admissions under BSc (H) in Sociology, Zoology and Botany will be closed at the Hindu College. Miranda House, which has filled 65% of its general seats, is likely to close admissions for geography (H) and sociology (H).

Sri Venkateshwara is likely to reduce the cut-off marks for science courses and other colleges that include, Ram Lal Anand, Kamala Nehru, Kirori Mal and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya are likely to keep the admissions open for most of the courses.
