DU releases fifth cut-off list; many colleges reopen admission to BCom (H), economics courses
The Delhi University (DU) has released fifth cut-off list. With this many colleges have reopened admission to much sought-after courses such as BCom (H), BA (H) economics courses. Though general category seats have been filled in most colleges, 3 colleges have reopened admission to courses such as BCom (H) and BA (H) economics.
The cut off for BA (H) economics course was dropped by 0.5% at Kirori Mal College (KMC) in the fifth cut off list. Jesus and Mary College and IP College also witnessed a drop of 0.5%. Now only 4 colleges including Shyam Lal (evening) are conducting admissions for the course.
BCom (H) course is open in about 8 colleges. KMC and Hindu College have reduced their cut offs for the course in the fifth list marginally by 0.25%. Shyam Lal (evening) also witnessed a dip of 4% in the cut-off. Admissions are going on at Satyawati (evening), Sri Venkateswara, Ram Lal Anand and Ramanujan.
The hopes of students seeking admission to BA and BCom program have been revived with the fifth list. Admission to BA and BCom program is open in 15 and 14 colleges respectively. Kalindi College recorded a dip of 3% while many other colleges including SGND Khalsa, Lakshmi Bai and Shyam Lal (evening) dropped their cut-offs by 1%. Reputed colleges such as Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara have also opened admissions to the course by reducing their cut-offs by 0.5% and 0.75% respectively.
Colleges such as Sri Venkateswara, Delhi College of Arts and Comerce, Moti Lal and Ram Lal Anand and SGTB Khalsa are still open for BA program. Bhagini Nivedita is offering the program at lowest cut-off of 50% while SGTB Khalsa registered the highest cut-off of 81.75% for the program.
In the mean time, colleges are having a tough time in filling their OBC seats. Admissions to various courses in colleges such as Hindu, Hans Raj, Kamla Nehru, IP, Maharaja Agrasen, Lakshmi Bai, Ramjas and Maitreyi will continue. Ramjas is offering admissions to OBC candidates in 11 courses including BA (H) economics, BCom (H), BSc (H) botany and physics. Kamla Nehru College is also having vacant seats.
Admission to honours courses in BCom, English, economics and history is open at Hans Raj College for OBC students. Hindu College is offering admission to BCom (H), chemistry (H) and economics (H) courses.
