The Mumbai Junior colleges witnessed an unprecedented number of students approaching the colleges for admissions on June 27, 2012 when the first merit list for online admissions was published. Fr Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College took everyone by surprise by declaring the highest cut-off of 95.63% in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Officials from the college reveled that there are very few seats left for online admissions as most of the seats were filled under the minority and in-house quota. This they said was the reason for high cut-offs.

Motilal Hargovindas School and Junior College in Thane recorded the second highest cut-off with 95.6%, while Sathaye College cut-off stood at 94%-the third highest cut-off for 2012. The cut-off stood between 88-92% in other colleges that include St Xavier's, HR, Mithibai, Jai-Hind, KC and NM colleges. On the other hand, with no students opting for some colleges, seats remained vacant in the first round.

The second merit list for the online admissions for Mumbai Junior Colleges will be announced on July 4, 2012 at 5 pm in the evening.
