IGNOU Announces Online PGD in Sustainability Science

IGNOU has announced the admission for online course on sustainable science. The last date for the admission Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Science (PGDSS) is 30th July 2012.

The program fee is 6000/-. Student can pay admission fee either through online mode or Demand Draft (in favour of IGNOU). Students have to appear in the Term End Examination through online mode from any of IGNOU’s regional centres.

The eligibility criterion for PGDSS is all graduates from social and natural sciences streams. Policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as general public interested in paradigm shift from the present unsustainable to sustainable development. The minimum duration of the course is one year and the maximum duration is 4 years. The medium of Instruction is English.

The Objective of the program is to enhance awareness and impact knowledge on urgent measures to be taken to limit population explosion, unsustainable lifestyle, and generation of non-and slowly recyclable-waste, synthetic chemicals.

The Chair for Sustainability Science, IGNOU which was established in 2007 in this International Decade for the education of Sustainable Development (2004 – 2015) to promote education on Sustainable Development is offering different online programs in the area of Sustainability Science.

The Chair under the guidance of eminent agricultural scientist Prof. M.S. Swaminathan has developed “Sustainability Science” in the Higher Education System of India for capacity building in Sustainable Development.For more information are available at www.ignouonline.ac.in/save or www.ignou.ac.in.
