Punjab Technical University (PTU) will conduct only two rounds of counseling for admissions to Bachelar of Architecture (BArch) and Bachelor of technology (BTech) courses this year. The university has also decided to simultaneously conduct counseling for candidates under the fee waiver scheme.
Sources from PTU revealed that admissions will be conducted based on the merit of performance in AIEEE. The admissions will be conducted to four universities of the state and colleges affiliated to them .The Universities include Guru Nanak Dev University, Panjabi University, Punjab Agriculture University and Punjab Technical University.
The University decided to reduce the number of round for counseling as most colleges begin their programmes in September. However, conducting three rounds of counseling would consume time till end of August.
Sources further revealed that the new move would also give colleges the chance to fill vacant seats after counseling is completed, based on the merit of students who apply to them directly.
They added that the last date to pay fees for those securing admission in the first round of counseling is June 27, 2012. Those students who secure admission through second round will have to pay their fee between July 1 and 13, 2012. Students who fail to submit fees in the first round will compulsorily have to submit fees in the second round of counseling.
About 85% of the seats are reserved for candidates from Punjab while the rest are meant for candidates from outside the state.
