Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will announce the dates for Indian Forest Service (IFS) Main examination, which will be conducted in October, 2013. The Indian Forest Service Main exam will be held from Thursday, October 03, 2013 to Saturday, October 12, 2013.
Indian Forest Service Main examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to the Indian Forest Service. The exam will be conducted for a duration of 10 days.
Eligibility Criteria for IFS 2013:
- A bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, animal husbandry & veterinary science, botany, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics, statistics and zoology or a bachelor’s degree in agriculture or forestry or engineering of a recognized university or equivalent.
- Candidates appearing at their degree examination (with prescribed subjects) are also eligible to compete. Candidates qualifying on the result of the written part of the examination will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.

Paper Pattern for IFS 2013:
The examination is divided in 2 sections. The first section consists of written examination (1400 marks) which is conventional essay type and the second section consists of interview for personality test (300 marks).
