The XAT 2012 (Xavier Aptitude Test 2012) held by XLRI, Jamshedpur (Xavier Labor Relations Institute) will be conducted on January 8, 2012. The online registration will take place from September 20 – November 30, 2011.

Even though XAT will maintain its pen-and-paper format in 2012 and will take place only for a day, the exam content is expected to exhibit a radical change.

Sources reveal that the exam format is being changed to meet the changing requirements of today’s times. The new pattern for XAT is expected to attract more humanities students in comparison to the engineering students. The new XAT paper pattern is expected to bring more on-campus diversity.

Even though, XLRI is not taking a drastic step like the new IIMs by allotting extra marks to non-engineers and women for bringing on-campus diversity due to AICTE regulations, it’s taking an extra step to attract students from diverse backgrounds to join XLRI.

During the selection process criteria such as XAT marks, academic performance, work experience and extra-curricular activities, performance in group discussion and personal interview is taken into account.

More than seventy management institutes select students on the basis of XAT scores.
