Endurance Task And Presence of Mind - Task Race

The Endurance Task was one of the rounds of the Amazing Race organised by the students of BMSCE for their annual cultural fest- UTSAV ’07. For this task, teams (10 teams under each group) had to go from one end of a rocky area to another by crossing obstacles in the way & the first team which did that would be declared the winners. The heat was a huge hindrance during the entire task & for this reason there were water cans at various check-points & glucose was available too. The obstacles would be in the form of questions which the team would have to answer in order to proceed. The right answer would point to the right track & the wrong answer would take them off track thereby slowing them down from reaching the finishing line first. There were nature’s obstacles to deal with also like the thorny bushes, the jagged rocks, uneven muddy tracks, etc....The task was about an hour long & everyone was hugely relieved once it was over and they could proceed to...

THE AMAZING RACE

The amazing race marked the beginning of the 3-day BMSCE fest- UTSAV ’07. This event was held at Manchan Bele Dam, which is located off Bangalore-Mysore highway, near the big banyan tree. This race was broadly divided into two main events as there were 60 teams participating from colleges all over Bangalore . These 60 teams (of 2 members each) were divided into 6 main groups-A, B, C, D, E & F (10 teams per group). Teams under A, B & C Did the Endurance Test while teams D, E & F did the Presence of Mind & vice versa. The event was supervised at all times by the volunteers & organizers of the event & safety remained the highest priority. After lunch, during which the winners were declared, the Kayaking race practice started. BMS COLLEGE FEST- UTSAV 2007

THE BEGINNING……………..   The long awaited BMS College of Engineering had finally arrived..!! The fest is called UTSAV and it’s motto, “It’s not a festival, it’s a faith” was proved true once you saw the turn-out of people from colleges all over Bangalore, who came to attend the fest. This particular fest is different from other college fests for a variety of reasons… For example, day 1 of the fest was an Amazing Race held at Manchan Bele Dam, which is located off Bangalore-Mysore highway, near the big banyan tree. The race was broadly divided into two events, the first being an Endurance Test & the second being Presence of Mind. Sixty teams took part in this event which lasted till evening, after which was the Kayaking competition to conclude the race.
