From a teacher to a student
Spread and share this message with all students who are preparing for exams: it may save life, it may ease life for students and parents: " Dear students, As a teacher I am aware of the tensions and difficulties many of you are going through now. You have been studying hard, probably going to tuition classes and are worrying about getting enough marks in exams. For a moment I wish to draw your attention to different perceptions. Suppose for a moment that your Principal, teachers and parents were to say: My child, what marks you get are not the least bit important. In a short time when you are grown up, no one will be looking at the marks you are worrying so much about. To us you are important and not what marks you get. You may think this strange, but let me tell you why we think this. We are all born in this world to learn important lessons, probably the most...

Make me an instrument
Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me saw love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O divine master, grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.  ...

Lessons we can learn from Ramalinga Raju's Satyam Fraud
The Satyam fiasco came as a shock to the nation after recent Mumbai attack. The perpetrator of Mumbai attack was outsider and perpetrators for this financial attack are from inside our own country. If we ask for death penalty for Mumbai attackers, what punishment should be impounded to those whose nexus led to the biggest financial fraud of our country? The person whom the nation used to revere had a stupendous fall in all respect. But what lessons can we learn from the whole episode of Satyam's Ramalinga Raju? I think as a human being we can learn a lot and educate ourselves and our children too. We must educate ourselves with basic vale based teachings of life. We might less importance to this aspect of education but it has a far reaching implication in our life. Life around us tempts us to achieve more and more as if there is no limit. We must have an education to help us to distinguish between aspiration to achieve...

A New Year after Mumbai Attack
Pain is there, anger is there, anguish is there. Moreover, I am much angry with myself, how can I forget such incidents which are happening with my country and countrymen and live a normal life? Our country faced a humiliating attack by perpetrators on 26 th Nov 2008 and we lost few precious lives, some facing the bullets of terrorists, some succumbed after gruesome torture by terrorists, some got chocked in smoke and died pathetically while their near and dear one was busy in saving others life. List is long, pain is unending, and anger is getting no direction to come out..........still life has to move. Now the incident is over and other news has taken place in TV channels in prime time. But question is, is everything normal? Am I able to live a normal life? Few days back, I went to one of my favorite restaurants for having dinner. When food was served, I could not ...

Why is the media here so negative? - Speech by Dr A. P.J Kalam
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why? We are the first in milk production. We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. We are the second largest producer of wheat. We are the second largest producer of rice. Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters. I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The ...

Antulay is the Simi Garewal of Indian politics
There is, or should be, a well-defined line in media between the liberty of impression and the freedom of expression. Both are privileges of democracy. Liberty of impression is the exhilarating-frightening roller coaster on which public discourse rides. Freedom of expression is cooled by the sprinkle of judgment, a mind that sieves speculation, allegation and accusation from the endproduct that appears in print or on air. There is outrage against the television coverage of Mumbai terrorism because television celebrities surrendered their judgment before the rising demand for hysteria. There is no supply without demand. The very audiences that sucked out hysteria from cable are now howling against its perpetrators. It is a human instinct to develop instant amnesia about one's mistakes and sharpen knives with the vigour of humbugs the moment a scapegoat has been identified. The viewer is now seeking absolution through anger. But the...

Letter to the PM by Editor Mumbai (TOI)
Dear Mr. Prime minister I am a typical mouse from Mumbai. In the local train compartment which has capacity of 100 persons, I travel with 500 more mouse. Mouse at least squeak but we don't even do that. Today I heard your speech. In which you said 'NO BODY WOULD BE SPARED'. I would like to remind you that fourteen years has passed since serial bomb blast in Mumbai took place. Dawood was the main conspirator. Till today he is not caught. All our bolywood actors, our builders, our Gutka king meets him but your Government can not catch him. Reason is simple; all your ministers are hand in glove with him. If any attempt is made to catch him everybody will be exposed. Your statement 'NOBODY WOULD BE SPARED' is nothing but a cruel joke on this unfortunate people of India . Enough is enough. As such after seeing terrorist attack carried out by about a dozen young boys I realize that if same thing continues days are not away when terrorist will attack by air, destroy our nuclear...

Recognizing a STROKE in 5 mins .. . S.. T... R techniqueS.. T... R technique
Please have a look....This 5 min may save a life and lots of tears..... You could save a life. STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R ... My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance) They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the...
