Cribbing is the easiest thing to do without actually having the required amount of awareness of things which are meant for your purpose. But when one gets into the understanding of such things, she/he cannot do away without appreciating. This is what has been happening with students since last year and also to the world outside Gargi with respect to placement cell. People are under the impression that it does not function. But the only possible reason for this illusion is their ignorance towards it. If they really want to know if it is active (or dormant), they obviously need to talk to relevant persons and analyse its functioning before drawing conclusions about it simply on the basis of watching those drum kits inside the placement office.

It is a fact that drum kits were stored in this office quite sometime back but there are rationales behind it. Firstly, the actual recruitment process starts from the last week of January and before that there is not much to do inside the cabin. Secondly, the recruitment sessions have to accommodate over 50 students which (I’m afraid) that tiny cabin will not be able to. Thirdly, it’s a cycle of their ignorance resulting into their ignorance. When people don’t know what that office is meant for then why don’t they question and if they do know, then why can’t they keep their drum kits elsewhere…

However, big time effort of the placement cell team members has helped gain it some reputation in the eyes of students, higher authorities and, I guess, slowly in the eyes of outsiders (few newspapers, which publish news without research). All the students are made aware of placement activities which are actually meant for their good.

Gargi started its campus recruitment session of this academic year from 4th Feb’08. The 1st company to be a part of this recruitment session was the internet master GOOGLE.COM. Prior to that, Placement Cell organized a few pre-placement sessions for preparing students on how to appear for aptitude tests, interviews, group discussions and also how to present their biodata on a Curriculum Vitae (CV in common language) to prepare students for the upcoming placements.

Google plus the amount of audience gave an amazing starter to the placement cell. Now students are actually looking up for information outside that cabin and notice boards. In any case, we should beware of ignorant people who do not participate (because they don’t know what’s there to participate in) and then are ready to complain anytime about anything. This might create an entirely wrong impression in our minds and make us misunderstand things that we are supposed to trust...
