Remember those elementary school essay competitions or that inter house painting contest both of which unfailingly had “a rainy day” as one of the topics??

I always considered myself suffering from the “2-left hands” syndrome meaning thereby that no matter how much effort i put in to draw , say a dog, the end result would invariably be a creature resembling a distant  member of the octopus family.

My ultimate embarrassment came in the form of this drawing competition i sat for but was disqualified in spite of spending an hour trying to present a perfect picture of a rainy day because my teacher felt i had depicted an area inflicted by some natural disaster..

So naturally after such unsuccessful trials i finally stifled my Da-vinci-ish dreams with a broken heart.

But today after ages something inspired me to hold that brush again. Was it the slight drizzle making a slow and steady polka dot sort of a pattern on the otherwise sun-burnt road? Or did the swaying trees gushing in happiness as the strong breeze jolted them out of their slumber inspire me?

Was it the dull pallor of the amaltas tree that i saw transforming into a bright healthy glow that amazed me or was it simply the amalgamation of all the visual treats that greeted my eyes while i walked from the college to the metro station and saw the rains drenching every bit of the world around me that did the impossible??

Whatever it is, i m not complaining!

The rains acted like complete snobs and had been treating Delhi with utmost disregard this time, but after being sorely missed and cussed at for months, as the rain gods finally descended and played truant with my hair while the muck came uninvited and ruined my clothes, there was little i could do but rejoice!
