FRESHER'S BASH-2009
...
Quite often does it happen that we appreciate the actual value of a certain thing only when we see its end nearing . .
Nostalgia gripped all of us third year students at the recently held history department’s fresher’s bash!
I mean wasn’t it just a few months back that we all were at the same place, feeling awkward, apprehensive, tongue-tied and scared to death at the thought of facing our seniors and getting ragged! It indeed felt weird to be standing there as super seniors and welcoming the newbies to the department. Suddenly we all felt “grown up”. A feeling that isn’t particularly a happy one!
But once the party started all such thoughts got drowned with the music and we all got into the groove.
One by one the juniors who were all dressed up in shades of black and white (the theme was monochrome) took centre stage and introduced themselves as whackily as we demanded!
So while a dynamic surd guy was very energetic and volunteered to introduce himself first very confidently and even danced with full gusto to the beats of ‘Singh is king’, there were some who made their stage fright as apparent as the nose on one’s face.
There was this girl who in an attempt to come across as the most innovative introduced herself with the help of a self composed poem which was well... umm... kindergarten- ish to sound the kindest. But the impressive part was that she remained unfazed in spite of the booing and evil laughter. She even danced raunchily to an item number with one of the 2nd year students shedding all her inhibitions!
She was chosen as the miss fresher.
The Mr. Fresher on the other hand chose to sing and entertained one and all with his mellifluous voice.
Once done with the intro it was time for some lunching munching and there awaited a lavish spread for the new entrants to our department. The yummy truffle cake was cut which was lapped up as soon as we set eyes on it and the food too was much appreciated.
After that the DJ belted out one chartbuster after the other and we all witnessed some serious dance moves on the floor!
Nattily dressed freshers, a sportive attitude, finger licking cake, scrumptious food, groovy music (thanks to the 2nd year guys!) and above all the fact that this was the last fresher’s party that we guys organised and attended surely made this one an affair to remember!! J
