one burden OFF young backs . . .

A really remarkable and long overdue educational reform has finally seen the light of the day!
YES! The class 10th board examinations will be a thing of the past for the 2010-11 academic session and this year too, though examinations will be held, there will be grading instead of granting marks.
An initiative precipitated by the present HRD minister, Shri Kapil Sibbal, it definitely spells relief in bold letters for thousands of stressed out students and their worried to death parents!
The students of classes 9th and 10th shall appear for internal examinations conducted and evaluated by their respective schools and 60% marks will be reserved for this. The remaining 40% marks will be given under the continuous and comprehensive evaluation system (CCE) which will assess the students for diverse qualities such as social skills, conversation abilities, project works, debates, physical education etc meaning there by there will be an overall assessment in every possible manner.
The grades will begin from A1 meaning exceptional (91% to 100%) and stoop down to E2 which would imply and unsatisfactory performance by the student (0% to 20%)
This system over and above all its umpteen merits is commendable for it would take away the hurt and humiliation caused to the below average students who in the event of securing ‘less’ marks or marks below the exorbitant expectations of their parents, take drastic steps. The grading system will boost them towards bettering themselves.
It is heartening to see that the board exams which over the past few years had become an ordeal for many is all set to undergo a positive transformation and get humanised in turn providing a healing touch to the frazzled community.
This step deserves all the support and cooperation to make it a success and help students grow academically minus the accompanying tensions!

jokes aside. the exams had become traumatic for many so its a positive step provided they maintain a uniformity and good teaching standards in all the schools across the country.
