Aspiring chartered accountants of India have good news to cheer about as the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) has scrapped its entrance test called- CPT (Common Proficiency Test).

Now the graduates and postgraduate students can join CA course without passing the CPT exam which was compulsory till July 31, 2012. The eligible candidates can apply and finish the program within 3.5 years provided they clear all exams and complete the training programs in the first attempt.

The new system will allow degree and postgraduate students to apply for the Integrated Professional Competence Course directly.

Once registered, candidates will be required to take up 3 years training under a practicing Chartered Accountant. After completing 9 months of training they will become eligible for the IPCC exam.

The 100 hours training of Information Technology Training Course along with the 35 hours of orientation course is also mandatory before writing the exam.
