In addition to the ongoing cases filed in the courts of Kolkata, Delhi, Madras, Indore and Allahabad, 126 disgruntled test-takers of the Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013) have now filed a joint writ petition at the High Court of Indore. During the hearing on Monday, April 7, 2014, the Indore High Court has ordered notices to be sent to all the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) including the CAT 2013 convener IIM Indore and Prometric Testing Private Limited, which is the partner agency of CAT 2013.
The court has asked the IIMs and Prometric to provide the raw scores and an explanation of the normalization process, as demanded by the petitioners. The next hearing is expected to be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. There are two more cases filed regarding CAT 2013 result discrepancies at the Indore High Court.
CAT is one of the most prestigious examinations in India for admission into the IIMs and other premier management institutes. CAT 2013 was conducted from Wednesday, October 16 to Monday, November 11, 2013. The Results of the examination were declared on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
There are few other cases going on concurrently in various Indian courts regarding the same issue. Other than access to raw scores and an explanation of the normalization method, the candidates are seeking a re-evaluation of CAT 2013 Results and a stay on the short-listing process of the IIMs and other institutes that accept CAT scores. RTIs have also been filed. The courts have sent notices to all parties concerned to respond to student queries within definite timeframes.
