The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) every year for admission to various management programs offered at the IIMs and other top B-schools in the country. Nearly 300,000 thousand aspirants appear for the online CAT exam for around 2,500 seats. The CAT aptitude test 2014 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore. The Common Aptitude Test 2014 will be conducted from Sunday, November 11, 2014 to Saturday, November 22, 2014.
From 2009 onwards, IIM CAT became an online test. The candidates can take the CAT online test at any of the designated test centers. The online test for CAT is designed to evaluate the management aptitude of a student by testing his analytical and communication skills. It demands up to three to four months of intense preparation.
The registration of the CAT online test can be done on the CAT official website only. However, before registering online for the CAT exam, the candidates are required to purchase a CAT voucher from selected branches of Axis Bank.
Computer Based Test (CBT):
CAT is not strictly an online exam. It is a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT) but not Internet Based Test (IBT) which means that the candidate will not take the exam on the internet through a website. But he will merely take the exam on a computer. Instead of reading questions from a booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.
Not just that a timer will also be displayed on the screen that will tell the candidate how many minutes more he has to complete the exam. More importantly, a candidate has to take the exam on an assigned workstation at the pre-assigned venue in the preferred city that chosen by the candidate at the time of registration.
Candidates can practice the CBT based mock exam to get familiarized on functionality and navigation of the actual exam. It will be hosted on the CAT’s official site and will be made available by mid October for the candidates.
