The Indian Institutes of Management and Prometric  have  announced  an extension of the registration period for the
Common  Admission  Test  (CAT)  2010.  The  sale  of  CAT vouchers has been extended  to Monday, 4  October and registration has been extended until Thursday 7 October 2010. The  decision  to extend the registration period was undertaken in order to provide  candidates  with  additional  opportunity  to register, and at the request of some candidates who required a longer registration period.
The  Common  Admission Test (CAT) 2010 will be administered from 27 October through  24 November 2010. Vouchers for the CAT 2010 are available for sale at selected Axis Bank branches. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have come up with a solution to stop proxy test takers from appearing in the forthcoming Common Entrance Test (CAT) 2010.

Prometric have developed biometric kiosk which will store details of each and every candidate (including their unique physical and behavioural traits) appearing for the CAT. The step was a part of a security system developed to catch proxy or professional test takers.
The biometric kiosk will have the photographs, finger prints and images of close circuit cameras (CCTVs) of all candidates.
Soumitra Roy , managing director of Prometric Inc said, "The idea of the biometric kiosk came after a sizeable number of cases of proxy test takers was reported during last year’s test. The kiosk will also act as an information tool. Roy said, “We are keeping a close look at all the workstations to be used for the exam. We have also upgraded all the hardware tools.”
Prometric has set up over 240 labs at 78 test centres in 33 cities across the country to give the candidates the best testing experience this time.
