Published On: 28 Oct 2013 | Last Updated On: 28 Oct 2013

The Common Admission Test ’13 (CAT '13) completed Day 10 today on October 28, 2013. CAT aptitude test is one of the most prestigious examinations in India for admission into the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as well as other premier management institutes. CAT ’13 began on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and will be conducted over a 20 day period till Monday, November 11, 2013, in 40 cities in India.

CAT ’13 has 2 sections-Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

As per a majority of the candidates, the QA section on Day 10 was moderate in terms of difficulty. The majority of questions in the QA section were framed from Algebra (around 5 questions), with Functions (3-4 questions) and Geometry (around 4 questions) following. The remaining questions were from the familiar topics of Trigonometry, Arithmetic, Time, Speed and Distance, Mensuration, Number System, etc.

Although the students claimed the DI section to be easy, there was an incomplete question in the section. The ratio data in the question with tables was not provided, which was very important to solve the question correctly. However, the error has not been confirmed by the test administration firm Prometric yet. The questions relating to Bar Diagrams and Pie Charts in the section were average, the students added.

As per the candidates, the questions in the VA section were easy. The questions were framed from familiar topics of Para Jumbles, Reading Comprehension (RC), Vocabulary, Identifying out of Context Sentences, Error Correction in Paragraph, etc. The passages consisted of around 600 to 650 words. The survey-based passages were easy and the questions direct. As per some students, RC contained a supposedly repeated passage (from this year’s CAT examination) based on the topic of Feminism.

The students claimed that LR section on Day 10 was calculation intensive, hence time consuming. Questions covered the topics of Blood Relations, Sequencing and Circular Arrangements.
