The Common Admission Test ’2013 (CAT ’2013) starts today, October 16, 2013. The first session starts at 10 am and the second session is expected to start at 3.15 pm. CAT ’2013 will be conducted over a 20 day period till Monday, November 11, 2013, in 40 cities in India.
In 2013, around 10,000 candidates are expected to appear for CAT on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in 2 separate slots. As per sources from the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), candidates are needed to report at the test center one and a half hours before the test starts.
There are 7 test centers in Bangalore for CAT ’2013. Around 12,155 candidates are expected to appear for the test in Karnataka.

CAT entrance test 2013 is expected to have 2 sections. The main aspects of the first session will be data interpretation and CAT quant, whereas for the second session they will be logical reasoning and CAT verbal ability. The 2 sessions will be conducted sequentially with different time limits. The duration of the online CAT examination will be of 140 minutes. 70 minutes will be allotted to answer 30 questions in each section. An “on-screen countdown timer” has been arranged as well. Once the time for the first section lapses, students need to move to the second section, without the privilege of going back to the first section.
The Common Admission Test, popularly known as CAT, is an all-India test conducted by the IIMs as an entrance examination for the management programs offered by its business schools as well as other top Master of Business Administration (MBA) schools. IIM-Indore will be the convener of CAT ’2013.
115 more seats have been added in 2013 across 13 IIMs, accounting for a total of 3,335 seats. As per CAT officials, business school (B-school) aspirants stand a better chance to gain entry into the premier IIMs this year. IIM CAT Results are likely to be announced on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
The total number of registrations for CAT ’2013 has dipped to 1.94 lakh. This year, the state of Maharashtra has received the largest chunk of CAT registrations with Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh following.
Bangalore B-school to host college fest in high seas
Bangalore based B-School - Center for Management Studies (CMS) under Jain University, is expected to host its college festival (fest) titled “Cranium” in a cruise liner, which will see participation by students from around 50 B-Schools in India. The final lap of the fest with 175 students will take place during November, 2013 on the cruise liner which will travel from Singapore to Langkawi as well as Phuket.
The fest is expected to include events for the best manager, a business-related quiz and other quizzes in the areas of finance, marketing, operation skills and human resources.
