CAT 2013: Day 14 Analysis

The Common Admission Test ’2013 (CAT ’2013) continues with Day 14 conducted on Friday, November 1, 2013. CAT 2013 has 2 sections-Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

Candidates who wrote the examination on Day 14 claimed that the QA section was moderate in terms of difficulty, with very few terming it little difficult. The QA section had most questions on Functions. The remaining questions were framed from the familiar topics including Geomtery, Mensuration, Algebra, Time, Speed & Distance, Permutation and Combination, etc.

Questions on Number System did not feature in few question sets.

As per the candidates, the DI section was easy. Questions were framed on Bar Diagrams, Simple Interest and Pie Charts. A candidate claimed that wrong options were provided in a DI question on “Expected Rainfall in Quarters”.

Candidates appearing for the Day 14 test claimed that the VA section was average. The questions were framed from the standard topics such as Para Jumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Vocabulary, Identifying out of Context Sentences and Sentence Correction.

There were 9 questions in the Reading Comprehension (RC) section meant for 3 passages. The passages were descriptive with easily comprehensible and direct questions. One passage was lengthy, as per the students.

As per the candidates, the LR section was easy. The LR sections had around 8-10 questions in 3 sets. The questions were framed on Sequencing, Arrangements and Family Relations.

CAT ’2013 began on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and will be conducted over a 20 day period till Monday, November 11, 2013, in 40 cities in India.
