The Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT ’13), the definitive entrance exam for the premier management institutions in the country is now in its third week. The long schedule of a 20 day window continued on Wednesday, Day 16. CAT 2013 has 2 sections-Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).
Candidates who wrote the examination on Day 16 claimed that the questions pattern had soft Verbal and a bit difficult Quant questions. According to several candidates, while the level of difficulty in QA and DI were high, they expressed hope that it was relatively better and VA was also easy. Several candidates felt that the test was only moderate in its difficulty level and there were no bouncers this time around.
Although reported a bit difficult, Quant and DI sections were doable, according to candidates and most of the questions were on Algebra and Geometry. While questions on Functions and Number System were present in the paper, there weren’t much on Permutation and Combination. Many of the candidates seemed to have taken time on Data Interpretation questions which led to not completely finishing the Quant or Di section.
Several candidates appearing for the Day 16 of the test claimed that the VA section was easier than the first section. Most of the questions seemed to be focusing on picking the sentence not belonging to the paragraph and also were on vocabulary and also candidates had to correct errors in sentences and paragraph. Finally, it was reported that the candidates had read three reading comprehension passages which were followed by ten questions which focused on the understanding of the candidate and the tone of the passage. All in all VA section did not trouble many candidates.
Finally, several candidates felt that the LR section which had 10 questions in three sets was also not very difficult though time consuming. While, last few days of the test had been a difficult task, Day 16 did not seem trouble great deal for many and it is likely that it will remain so far the remainder of the exam days. CAT ’13 began on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and will be conducted over a 20 day period till Monday, November 11, 2013, in 40 cities in India.
