CAT 2013: Day 17 Analysis

The Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT ’13), the fiercely competitive 20 day long entrance exam for the premier management institutions in the country is now inching towards its last few days. Day 17 of the test was held on Thursday.  The long schedule of a 20 day window of CAT 2013 has sections like Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

While the Day 16 of the test had found that the questions pattern had soft Verbal and a bit difficult Quant questions, Day 17 continued on the same theme. The candidates who appeared on the test said that the level of difficulty in the Quant section was high while VA and LR section were comparatively easy.

For several candidates, Quantitative Ability area had many questions from Arithmetic and geometry while the rest of the questions were from the other known topics such as Functions, number systems, Time & Speed & Distance etc.  But overall, most of the candidates felt that the questions heavily time consuming as most of them required a large amount of calculation.

In the Data Interpretation section, the questions were not very difficult according to several takers of the test and most of the questions were based on observation and calculation. In the Verbal Ability section, most of the candidates found no tough task and most of them termed the section was easy with several easy questions on vocabulary, finding out the out of context sentence, correction of sentences and also fill in the blanks questions. Even the Reading Comprehension bit was easier for many candidates, which apparently were more direct in nature and with only three passages and ten questions to answer for.

And finally, even the Logical Reasoning set of questions were also found easily answerable for many candidates and nearly ten questions in the set, most of the questions were analytical type. The 20 day long test which began on Wednesday, October 16, will be concluded on November 11 and the Results are scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
