The Results of the Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013) are expected to be announced at 9 am on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. CAT 2013 was conducted over a 20 day period from Wednesday, October 16 to Monday, November 11, 2013 in 40 cities in India, which is an increase from 36 cities in 2012. The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) was the convener of CAT 2013.

The Common Admission Test, popularly known as CAT, is an all-India test conducted by the premier IIMs as an entrance examination for the management programs offered by its business schools (B-schools) as well as other top Master of Business Administration (MBA) schools. CAT examinations are administered by the American test-conducting firm “Prometric”, which has acted as the testing partner of the IIMs since the year 2009.

Other than the 13 IIMs, more than 100 B-schools in India use CAT scores to grant admission to students into their management courses. This includes some of the most prestigious institutes such as SP Jain Institute of Management and Research Mumbai, Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad, Faculty of Management Studies Delhi University, etc.

Students can access the CAT 2013 Results online at http://www.cat2013.iimidr.ac.in. Names of candidates who are shortlisted for interviews will be put up on the CAT website. To access Results online, candidates need to enter their CAT registration number and e-mail address. They need to retain a printout of the Results. CAT 2013 Results will be accessible online till Wednesday, December 31, 2014.

Shortlisted candidates of CAT 2013 need to appear for Group Discussions (GDs), Personal Interviews (PIs) and Written Ability Tests (WATs) held by the IIMs as well as other B-schools which accept CAT scores to grant admission to students. More than 15,000 candidates are expected to receive calls from the older IIMs for the PI round after the Results of CAT 2013 are declared

As per officials of IIM Tiruchirappalli, the six newly established IIMs are expected to invite applications from 10,000 candidates to take part in the combined PI and WAT process termed “Common Admission Process” (CAP). Altogether, there are 800 seats available in the new IIMs.

The PI-WAT process at the IIMs is expected to begin during the middle of February and continue till the middle of March, 2014.

A total of 1, 94,516 candidates wrote CAT 2013, up from 1, 91,642 candidates who wrote the test last year. 115 more seats have been added in 2013 across the 13 IIMs. The total number of seats in all the IIMs is 3, 335 at present.
