It has been a few days Common Admission Test (CAT) 2013 for admissions into prestigious IIMs has been ended and now the process for next year’s exam has already begun. It has been reported that the decision on service providers for CAT '14 will be taken soon.
According to reports, the process of short listing service providers to take up responsibility of conducting CAT 2014 will be decided at IIM-Indore which will be holding a meeting in this regard shortly.
The meeting is scheduled on December 7 and 8. A seven-member committee including representatives from all major IIMs to shortlist eligible companies for the job has been constituted. It has been reported that already six companies have been shortlisted and final decision is pending. The reign of the present company Prometrics which conducts the online CAT is about to end this year following which top management institutes had invited applications.
Prometrics had signed MoU with IIMs for five years. After Prometrics’ term ends, the IIMs will retain control over CAT. In 2009, the company was awarded work with 40 million dollars contract by IIM to computerize CAT.
CAT 2013 convener Rohit Kapoor was quoted as saying "We are in the process to look for prospective service providers to conduct CAT for IIMs in a computerised and standardised multi-test mode. Work of service provider would be to undertake tasks including application process, test construction, test delivery, result processing and score reporting using appropriate technology. Finalisation of the company is in process.’’
