The Common Admission Test 2014 (CAT 2014) will be conducted on Sunday, November 16 and Saturday, November 22, 2014. The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) is the convener of CAT 2014. The candidates are advised to take note of a few key instructions relevant to the test.

CAT will be held across 307 test centers in 99 cities. Candidates can now look up the list of test cities for CAT 2014 at the site by selecting state/union territories. Please click here.

The forenoon session and afternoon sessions on both the days will be held from 9.30 am to 12.20 pm and from 3 pm to 5.50 pm respectively. One candidate can only appear for one slot. The reporting times for the forenoon and afternoon sessions are 7.30 am and 1 pm respectively.

The CAT test is for a total duration of 170 minutes or 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Candidates under the Differently-abled (DA) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories will get one hour extra compared to candidates under the General category.

CAT 2014 registered candidates need to refer the admit card to check which of the two dates and which session have been assigned to them. Admit cards can be viewed from the CAT website upon log in. The admit card will also contain candidate name, test city and center address, user ID/Registration Number as well as PwD/DA status.

The test will have two sections of 50 questions each for a total of 100 questions. The two sections are - Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

There is no section time restriction. The timer will show the overall time remaining to take the test. The medium of test will remain English for all candidates.

Candidates have to bring the admit card and photo ID card to the test center. The photo image and signature on both these should be clear and legible. In case of name change from the time of registration, candidates have to bring proof and/or notarized affidavit. The photo on the admit card has to be the same one as was uploaded during registrations.

If the candidate has already signed on the admit card before coming for the test, they have to reprint it.

There is no facility for safekeeping of personal belongings inside or outside the testing hall.

Candidates will be allowed to leave the testing hall only on completion of the 170 minutes. Even if they have attempted all questions before the set time, the Submit button will be enabled only after test duration. Candidates have to remain seated till the invigilator instructs all candidates to leave.

Once the invigilator has signed in a candidate, they cannot leave the testing hall until the end of the testing period.

Candidates have to use the system generated User ID and Password to log into the website. Upon logging in, first the Registration Summary page can be seen and then the screen will show the Application Form. In the event of not receiving or lost the system generated password SMS, candidates have to click on Forgot Password on the Existing User login page. Candidates will be prompted to enter a Captcha string after which a new password will be sent to the registered email address. The regenerated passwords will not be sent as SMS.

Candidates need to note that the equating/scaling process will be announced on the CAT 2014 website: www.iimcat.ac.in prior to the examination.
