The Common Admission Test ’13 (CAT ’13) was conducted smoothly on Day 8 today on October 25, 2013. CAT ’13 began on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and will be conducted over a 20 day period till Monday, November 11, 2013, in 40 cities in India.
CAT ’13 has 2 sections-Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).
As per information provided by various candidates who wrote the test on Day 8, the QA and DI section was moderate. The majority of questions in the QA section were framed from Algebra, with Functions and Geometry following. The remaining questions were from the familiar topics of Trigonometry, Arithmetic, Time, Speed and Distance, Mensuration, Number System, etc.
Several students claimed that the DI section was average in terms of difficulty, consisting of questions relating to Caselets, Venn Diagram and Pie Chart.
As per a majority of the candidates, the VA section was easy with many students being able to attempt almost all questions. The Verbal section consisted of questions covering the topics of Para Jumbles, Reading Comprehension (RC), Vocabulary, Identifying out of Context Sentences, Error Correction in Paragraph, etc. The passages, containing 600-650 words, were easy and had direct questions.
The candidates claimed that the Day 8 questions of LR were calculation intensive, hence time consuming. Questions covered the topics of Blood Relations, Sequencing and Circular Arrangements.
CAT is an all-India test conducted by the premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as an entrance examination for the management programs offered by its business schools (B-schools) as well as other top Master of Business Administration (MBA) schools. IIM-Indore will be the convener of CAT ’2013.
