Day 13 of the Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013) was conducted smoothly today on October 31, 2013. CAT 13 began on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and will be conducted over a 20 day period till Monday, November 11, 2013, in 40 cities in India.
CAT 2013 has 2 sections-Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).
Students who wrote the test on Day 13 claimed that the QA section was moderate in terms of difficulty, with very few finding it little difficult. The QA section had most questions on Algebra (4 questions) with Geometry following (3 questions). The remaining questions were framed from known topics including Trigonometry, Arithmetic, Mensuration, Functions, Number System, Time, Speed & Distance, etc.
As per the candidates, the DI section was easy. Questions were based on Tables, Bar Diagrams and Pie Charts.
Candidates appearing for the Day 13 test claimed that the VA section was average. The questions were framed from all topics such as Para Jumbles, Reading Comprehension (RC), Vocabulary, Identifying out of Context Sentences and Error Correction in Paragraph. The passages consisted of around 600 to 650 words. The survey-based passages were easy and the questions direct, with one passage taking little extra time to solve, as per few candidates.
As per the students, the LR section on Day 13 was easy and could be solved fast. The questions were framed on Sequencing, Arrangements and Blood Relations.
The total number of registrations for CAT 2013 has dipped by almost 9% to a 5-year low of 1.94 lakh, down from around 2.14 lakh applications in 2012. This year, the state of Maharashtra has received the largest chunk of CAT registrations with Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh following.
