### Day 9 Analysis of CAT' 13

Day 9 of the Common Admission Test ’13 (CAT ’13) was held on Saturday, October 26, 2013.

CAT is an all-India test conducted by the premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as an entrance examination for the management programs offered by its business schools (B-schools) as well as other top Master of Business Administration (MBA) schools.

CAT ’13 has 2 sections-Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

As per a majority of candidates who wrote the CAT ’13 examination on Day 9, the QA section was moderate in terms of difficulty. The majority of questions in the QA section were framed from Algebra and Functions. The remaining questions were from the familiar topics of Geometry, Time, Speed and Distance, Mensuration, Permutation and Combination, Number System, etc. As per students, Level of Difficulty (LOD) of most questions can be put at 2.

Most candidates claimed that the DI section was easy, based on the topics of Pie Charts, Simple Interest and Bar Diagrams. Many students could attempt all the questions with complete accuracy.

As per the candidates, the VA section was average in terms of difficulty, with some candidates finding it very easy. The questions were framed from familiar topics of Para Jumbles, Vocabulary, Identifying out of Context Sentences, Sentence Correction, Fill in the Blanks, etc.

There were 10 questions in the Reading Comprehension (RC) section meant for 3 passages. All the passages were descriptive and small. The questions were easy and direct. A minimum of one passage included a poem which was easy to understand.

The students mostly claimed that the LR section was easy, with very few terming it little tricky. The questions were easy to understand and based on Letter Series, Arrangements and Clocks. The 3 sets of LR had around 8 to 10 questions.

CAT ’13 began on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and will be conducted over a 20 day period till Monday, November 11, 2013, in 40 cities in India.
