As per sources, CAT ’2013 was easier in comparison with CAT ’2012. More weightage has been assigned to the reasoning section in CAT ’2013. CAT ’2013 has 2 sections-Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Interpretation (DI) as well as Verbal Ability (VA) and Logical Reasoning (LR). As per sources, regarding difficulty level, both the sections were moderate.
The Common Admission Test, popularly known as CAT, is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as an entrance examination for the management programs offered by its business schools as well as other top Master of Business Administration (MBA) schools. Other than the 13 IIMs, more than 100 business schools (B-schools) in India use CAT scores to grant admission to students into their management courses
As per some candidates, there were no surprise elements on the first day of the test in terms of examination pattern, which was similar to the pattern of CAT ’2012. Moreover, there were no technical issues during the test. Many students claimed that this year the question paper was more time-consuming than previous tests.
As per some students, Section1 was as per expected pattern relating to topics covered with focus on algebra and geometry sets along with calculation intensive caselets. Few students claimed that QA was tougher than expected. LR and English were easier, claimed few students. Although few students found the paper to be moderately difficult, they also felt it was easier in comparison with last year’s paper.
As per sources, VA and LR consisted of lengthy passages of Reading Comprehension (RC). The non-RC verbal questions had a blend of grammar as well as verbal reasoning question sets.
