Maharashtra State Education Board upgrades Class XI and XII syllabus to make them at par with CBSE

The Maharashtra State Education Board has been upgrading the syllabus since last couple of years from Class IX onwards to make it equivalent to CBSE syllabus. The 2011-12 batch of Std XI is currently studying the new syllabus.  Now the board has decided to introduce some more changes in the syllabus of both Class XI and XII.

The new text books for Std XI will be printed by June, due to which the current batch will miss out. But students need not to worry as it will have no effect on the exams. When this batch moves to Class XII next year, they will have the text books as per the updated syllabus.

The changes have been made in accordance with the vision of Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) to set up a common syllabus across the nation. COBSE is the superior body where state education boards are members and is headed by the CBSE chairman.

Adhering to the COBSE’s guidelines, the state board has added few topics as well as removed some to maintain uniformity with other boards. The new syllabus of the state board is at par with the CBSE which will prepare students for the proposed National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET).

The Board has made the syllabus public and instructed all colleges to review the new syllabus. The new topics added have been marked in bold letters to distinguish the changes.
