Validation of CBSE marks creates confusion in Pune

Published On: 27 Jun 2012 | Last Updated On: 27 Jun 2012

Pune students who completed their CBSE Class X board exam this year are having a tough time securing an admission to Class XI due to the absence of an authorized centre in the state to help them with the certification of their marks.

The CBSE board provides all the affiliated schools with the mark sheets of the students, which are then certified by the respective schools.  The certified marks are provided to the students on the school letterheads. Only such validated marks sheets are accepted along with the application forms for admissions to Class XI by the Maharashtra government.

This being the scenario, Pune students are in a rush to obtain the certification of their marks in a limited time as the deadline for submission of applications is Wednesday June 27, 2013. In addition, the CBSE has set up only four guidance centers to help with the certification of marks, all in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai adding to the misery of the students.

As per the formula given by the CBSE, the CGPA is multiplied by 9.5 to obtain the overall percentage of marks secured by the student. However, the guidance centers also did not prove to be of much help as they had not received any instructions regarding the conversion of the grades.  The centers also failed to revert back to student’s queries and requests. DAV Public School, Airoli, DAV Public School, Nerul, Apeejay School are the only centers set up by the CBSE board.

With Apte Prashala being the only center for form submission in Pune, students are rushing to and fro between Mumbai and Pune to complete the application process.  Worried about their admission, many students have also sent e-mails to the CBSE board but the board has failed to give any positive response.
