Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET)Results for this year were declared on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

Bangalore shines with 4 medical and 6 engineering toppers and 8 of the top 10 ranks swept away by the students from the city.  Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Mysore and Shimoga are the other districts that have done well. On the other hand, Yadgir, Kodagu and Koppal districts recorded very low number of eligible candidates for medical and engineering.

Archana Sasi from National Public School, HAL secured the first rank in Medical, while Pritesh Kumar N from Sadvidya Composite PU College, Mysore bagged the second rank. Third rank was obtained by Veeresh, a student from Expert PU College, Mangalore.

As for the engineering ranks, Deepa M who topped the science stream in MES Kishore Kendra PU College, Bangalore, also secured the first rank. Bellary Independent PU College student, Raj V Jain secured the second rank, while Sagar Honnungar of National Public School, Rajajinagar, Bangalore secured the third rank.

The top three ranks in architecture were bagged by three students from Bangalore. Student of Mount Carmel PU College, Naksha S secured the first rank.  Pavan Kumar S from Sri Kumaran Children's Home and Prithvi D Hegde bagged the second and third rank respectively.

The Karnataka CET Results this year witnessed about 2,000 more students being eligible for medical and over 5,000 more for engineering than in 2011. Of the 1,18,780 students who appeared for the exam this year, 15,776 students are eligible for medicine, 78,694 for engineering, 836 for architecture and 59,011 for homeopathy and ISM.

With increasing numbers of eligible candidates for the professional courses, the competition to secure admissions has gotten tougher. The boys grip the engineering seats, while more number of girls are eligible for medical seats.

The record CET passes this year-like never before in its history can be attributed to the improved PU pass percentage this year.
