What is KCET 2016?

The KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is an entrance test, which is mandatory to get admission for under graduate professional courses viz., Indian System of Medicine & Homeopathy and Engineering/ Technology programs offered by Government, Aided, Private Un-aided Minority / Non-minority institutions of Karnataka state. Only the candidates seeking admission for architecture program compulsorily appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture). Every year Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will hold the responsibility of conducting CETK. For the year 2016, KCET is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, May 04, 2016 and Thursday, May 05, 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for KCET 2016: 

  • For Medical/Dental Programs: The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study and have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the PCB group and should secure a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test.
  • For Ayurveda/ Homeopathy/ Unani / Naturopathy and Yoga Programs: The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study and have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the PCB group irrespective marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test.
  • For Engineering/ Technology Programs: The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in the optional subjects, irrespective of marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test.
  • For Architecture Program: The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects.

Paper Pattern for KCET 2016:

Karnataka CET comprises of 4 papers namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. There will be an option of attending Mathematics or Biology paper, which is depended on the choice made by candidates. Each question paper comprises of 60 objective type questions. The maximum time limit given for answering each paper is 70 minutes.
