Al-Kabir Polytechnic (AKP), Jamshedpur was established in 1990. It was born of the mission and the foresightedness of the people of the trust and was nurtured by the selfless and dedicated efforts of the founder and the chairman of Kabir Welfare Trust Haji Abdul Hakim. Al-Kabir Polytechnic is recognized by State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Govt. of Jharkhand and approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Govt. of India. A dynamic, industrious and prudent principal, along with highly efficient and effective team of faculty members, leads the college. The college was established to benefit the minority and other backward communities of the Chhotanagpur region as well as the rest of the nation.
The vision of the college is to become a center of excellence in technical education and skill development to occupy a place among the the eminent institution of the country and guide the student to become responsible citizen and compete professional. The missions of the institute are to impart high quality education and skill development for the upliftment of minorities and downtrodden of the society and to become regional focus point in the human development and other training activities.

Placement Cell is an integral part of the institute. Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for the campus selection programmes. The cell keeps on inviting various industries and reputed firms for campus recruitment. The primary objective of the cell is to enhance the skills, knowledge and abilities of every individual and in the process match the skills required by the industries to make them employable.
