Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies (AIMS), Visakhapatnam was established in 1995 and has since emerged as one of the well known B-schools in the region, based on its track-record of growth and performance. An AICTE approved institution, the institute runs offers a two-year full time Post-Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGDBM). It is an autonomous institute of higher education in management. Apart from teaching and training of students in the realm of management, the institute provides opportunities for the faculty to develop their skills and knowledge and also carries out research on contemporary topics in the areas of management, commerce, economics and other social science.
The institute has been supported by the corporates in every way, including conducting of specialized courses in supply chain management, decision support systems, human resource planning and foreign trade. The institute has been consistently building on its intellectual capital and actively encourages its faculty to publish in national and international journals. Two of its faculty even published books within the last one year. The institute has also a fair record of consulting activity with the local industry. The idea is to provide a well grounded practical education to the students led by the industry veterans, so that when the student managers of AIMS enter the corporate world they come fully equipped to take up the challenges.
