About Us

Over a period of two decades, Aurora Consortium has etched out its unique name in institutional leadership through quality undergraduate and postgraduate education in commerce, science, engineering, education and management. Aurora's Degree & PG College was the first college in Aurora consortium established in 1990 as an affiliated undergraduate college to Osmania University. Today, the consortium has grown to seven engineering colleges, four post graduate colleges, one undergraduate college, and one college of education. With more than 5,000 students enrolled each year, there are close to 15,000 students studying at any given point of time and with a large alumnus of 50,000 students, Aurora is continuously striving towards opening new vistas in education and training.

Social Initiatives

Believing in the Mantra of Concentrate - Collaborate - and Contribute, ACT has mandated itself to focus on four important issues namely 1. Global Warming, 2. Deforestation, 3. Excessive usage of plastic, 4. lack of potable drinking water in many village and semi urban areas of India. The rationale for the choosing above focus areas are as follows:

• They are all environmental issues to which every individual can contribute in their personal capacity, unlike areas like education and health which require significant inputs from institutions including the government
• ABS would also like to concentrate in a few areas to ensure focus in application and have a better chance of showing results and impact in the chosen area.While the students are encouraged to focus their activities in these areas, they are given opportunity to participate in activities outside of this list if they are passionate about a cause and want to apply a systematic approach of working on these causes.

Student Activities

The Students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management program at Aurora's Business School while undergoing the course have ample opportunities to participate in various activities designed for them, that include; Social Activities, Leadership Activities, Professional Activities, Co-Curricular Activities, Club Activities, and Health & Fitness Activities. The following activities are designed to enhance the experience through nurturing and empowering. These activities provide opportunities for meaningful interpersonal relationships, supporting fraternity and excitement through programs designed from diverse background.

Admission Procedure

Candidates have to appear at the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by the IIMs in 2010 and those who have written XAT conducted by XLRI or MAT conducted by AIMA in the 2010/2011 may download the application and send the duly filled in applications by May 15th 2011.

Short-listed candidates will be called for Group Discussions and Personal Interviews to be held at ABS campus. Final selection will be based on the performance of the candidates at the CAT / XAT/ MAT, Group Discussions and Personal Interviews, academic record and extra-curricular activities.

Qualities being evaluated through the selection process include:

• Proficiency in English
• Motivation level
• Ability to work in a group.
• Ability to spot opportunities and converting them into results through an optimal plan.
• The ability to observe, identify and understand complex forces operating in the universe and human society.
• Sense of vision and purpose that allows thought beyond the known

Eligibility

A Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE, obtained on or before June 2011. Those completing their final examinations by May/June 2011 can also apply. Candidates who have written CAT-2010, conducted by the IIMs, XAT 2010 conducted by XLRI, MAT conducted by AIMA.

Financial Assistance

With the spirit to facilitate easy access to education, Aurora's Business School (ABS) offers financial assistance to deserving students in the form of fellowships for its Post Graduate Diploma Program in Management. ABS supports deserving students to pursue higher studies. The Scholarship will be offered in the form of tuition fee waiver in varying proportions. Students interested in availing the scholarship will be assessed in terms of their academic achievements and / or notable display of talent and accomplishments in various fields, by a panel of experts invited by ABS.
