Overview

Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT), Sindri was established in 1949. The institute is controlled administratively by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jharkhand, Ranchi and academically it is affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag for conducting examinations and awarding degrees. All the courses are approved by All India Council of Technical Education and most of the undergraduate programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. It is formerly known as Bihar Institute of Technology, Sindri but now Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri

 

The main aim of the institute is to cater to the needs of the nation for technological manpower development and research programs comparable to the best of the world. The mission of the institute is to impart quality education in engineering and technology and produce highly technically trained human resources of world class quality and to promote research and development in the emerging and thrust areas and attainment of academic excellence.
