Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra was established in 1992 as the University of Education in Nitra, is a public university which became a successor of Pedagogic Institute established in 1959 and Faculty of Education in 1964. Over the course of time, UKF has secured its position in the Slovak higher education system while transforming itself into a university, an advanced educational and research institution meeting the criteria imposed on European university institutions. The main aim of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra is to offer higher education and to develop knowledge on the basis of creative, scientific, and artistic work, as well as to participate in the development of education, science, culture and health of society.
