Curtin University of Technology was established in 1999 following an invitation from the Sarawak State Government to Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia, to establish its first offshore campus in Miri.Curtin’s reputation for excellence in the South East Asian region provided the basis for Sarawak State Government’s initiative to invite Curtin to establish an international university in Sarawak. Curtin Sarawak has been actively involved in Malaysian education.
It's operations in Miri, Sarawak commenced in 1999. In 2002, the new purpose-built campus in a garden opened, which is a world-class facility where stylish architecturally designed buildings complement state-of-the-art equipment and facilities coupled with sophisticated IT linkages to provide students access to the resources of Curtin, Western Australia.In 1999, Curtin Sarawak was awarded the Multimedia Super Corridor status and was renewed in 2006.
