Directorate Of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, founded in the year 1966, has 18 schools in 73 sections.The Department of Distance Learning at the University has a student strength of about 1.30 lakh. The university has more than 109 colleges (9 autonomous) including other approved institutions and 7 schools in the evening. Centers is to promote research opportunities for teachers. Extension of the Ministry of Youth and Welfare, NSS, SC / ST cell and implement training for adults.

Those who have discontinued their studies under semester or non-semester in any university may continue with year exemption.
